Performance tests require a full sized mock-up of the specimen to be tested installed onto an airtight chamber where the pressure difference between the outside and the inside is created to meet the specified wind load for the project. This is achieved by pumping in or withdrawing air from the chamber at a rate required to maintain the specified pressure difference across the specimen, hence simulating the wind load on the specimen.

Air infiltration, water penetration and structural deflections can then be measured or observed by strategic positioning of measuring instruments where the readings at various pressure differences are read on a data logger at the control centre through cable and tube connection networks.
